Background of the Study
Yola North Local Government Area (LGA), located in Adamawa State, Nigeria, faces significant challenges in addressing youth unemployment, with geopolitical divisions often exacerbating these issues. Youth unemployment in the region is compounded by ethnic divisions, political affiliations, and competition for scarce resources. Geopolitical factors such as the influence of political elites, ethnic considerations, and historical marginalization of certain groups have hindered the equitable distribution of youth employment programs. Youth employment initiatives, such as skills acquisition programs, entrepreneurship development, and job placement services, are often shaped by the political and ethnic interests that dominate the local landscape. This study will examine the role of geopolitical divisions in shaping youth employment programs in Yola North LGA, highlighting how these divisions impact the effectiveness and inclusivity of such programs (Nuhu & Ibrahim, 2024).
1.2 Statement of the Problem
In Yola North LGA, the effectiveness of youth employment programs is undermined by geopolitical divisions. These divisions, which are primarily based on ethnic and political affiliations, create an environment where certain groups of youths are favored while others are marginalized. This inequity limits the reach of youth employment initiatives and results in higher levels of youth unemployment and frustration. The problem stems from the inability of policy frameworks to address these divisions adequately, leading to a skewed implementation of programs that do not serve all segments of the population equally. This study seeks to assess the impact of geopolitical divisions on youth employment programs in Yola North LGA and propose recommendations for more inclusive approaches.
1.3 Objectives of the Study
To evaluate the impact of geopolitical divisions on the implementation of youth employment programs in Yola North LGA.
To examine the challenges faced by marginalized youth groups in accessing employment opportunities.
To recommend strategies for enhancing the inclusivity and effectiveness of youth employment programs in Yola North LGA.

Marginalized youth groups experience greater difficulties in accessing youth employment opportunities in Yola North.
Implementing strategies to address geopolitical divisions will improve the inclusivity of youth employment programs in Yola North LGA.
1.6 Significance of the Study
This study will offer valuable insights into the role of geopolitical divisions in shaping the success or failure of youth employment programs in Yola North LGA. The findings will be useful for policymakers, youth development organizations, and local government authorities in designing more inclusive programs that cater to all segments of the youth population (Nuhu & Ibrahim, 2024). Additionally, the recommendations will assist in improving the targeting and reach of such programs, reducing youth unemployment in the region.
1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study is limited to Yola North LGA in Adamawa State and will focus on the influence of geopolitical divisions on youth employment programs. Limitations include challenges in obtaining data from local government bodies and the difficulty in quantifying the direct impact of geopolitical factors on employment outcomes.
